Introduced in 1995 to mark the 10th anniversary of the Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar ref. 3750, The ref. 3751 sports a Rattrapante (Split-Seconds) funtion rather fittingly adding a ‘10th’ hand to the dial. The 3751 was limited in Platinum to 500 pieces.
Kurt Klaus designed the perpetual calendar module for the watch, it was designed to be adjusted via a single click using the crown, instead of the traditional pin pusher for each date element. The rattrapante in the 3751 was designed by Richard Habring.
The platinum case is in wonderful condition, hallmarks deep and crisp. There are hairlines visible however to be expected, with no major dings to report.
The dial is exceptional, so much to enjoy from the fine details of the guilloche sub-dials with serif fonts to the aventurine moon disc and creamy lume plots. The hands add a pop of color from blue to the red rattrapante hands, there is always something that catches the eye, especially in the sun.
The hinged lugs fall sharply hugging the wrist, the case measures 39mm wide and 16mm tall (a large portion of this is the wonderful high top crystal). Carrying considerable heft on the wrist the watch is held in place via its original Platinum pin buckle.
The watch comes with all its original booklets + paperwork (unsigned) including the original ‘briefcase’ box, replacement date wheels for years 2100+ and a further archive certificate from IWC. Overall an exceptional collectors set.
