1975 Rolex DateJust ‘Tiger Eye’ Stone Dial 1601

A visual masterpiece and a genuinely rare Rolex ref. 1601 Tiger Eye Gemstone dial from 1975.

The nickname ‘Tiger Eye’ refers to the stone’s chatoyance, which means 'cat’s eye effect' in French - Amsterdam Vintage Watches. The original ‘T SWISS T’ dial we have here is in fantastic condition, with zero cracks to report, rare for gemstone dials due to their fragility. The way the natural lines in the stone catch and move with the light is truly stunning to witness, a very strong contender for our favourite dial to date.

The gold case is in great condition, having received a light polishing in the past however retaining wonderful shape with original lines and thick lugs. The original bezel has held up incredibly well with only minor wear marks, we love these older fluted bezels!

The bracelet has received careful maintenance giving it a new lease for life with only light stretch for its age.

This watch is genuinely a rare Rolex, not something you’ll hear us say often, and a watch that really excites us. We can’t wait to see where it ends up and know it will be a centrepiece of many a collection.
